Park Shore was Raymond Lutgert's plan for 760 acres he bought from the Collier family in 1964, and it became Collier County's first planned unit development. Dredging created Venetian Bay, which separates the Gulf-front high-rises from the single-family streets on the mainland side. The houses went up between about 1970 and 1983, mostly concrete block under concrete tile, and many have been re-roofed once already.
